Function
Extends and laterally rotates hip, upper fibers abduct
Origin
Ilium (behind posterior gluteal line), sacrum, coccyx, sacrotuberous ligament
Insertion
Iliotibial tract and gluteal tuberosity of femur
Innervation
Inferior gluteal nerve (L5-S2)
