Everyday Muscle.

Intertransversarii Anteriores Cervicis

These tiny muscles act almost as much like position sensors as movers. They contain numerous muscle spindles that help the nervous system detect subtle changes in cervical spine position.
Function
Stabilizes adjacent cervical vertebrae and assists ipsilateral lateral flexion of the neck. Also contributes significantly to proprioception and fine control of cervical spine movements.
Origin
Anterior tubercles of the transverse processes of the cervical vertebrae, generally beginning around C2.
Insertion
Anterior tubercle of the transverse process of the immediately adjacent vertebra above.
Innervation
Anterior (ventral) rami of cervical spinal nerves.
