Its tendons cross over the flexor hallucis longus tendons in the sole — called the 'knot of Henry.'
Function
Flexes toes 2-5, plantarflexes ankle, supports longitudinal arch
Origin
Posterior surface of tibia (middle third)
Insertion
Bases of distal phalanges of digits 2-5
Innervation
Tibial nerve (L5-S2)
